Using Midjourney most often gets stuck in Discord: you can’t see channels, you can’t send /imagine, and images won’t show up. Below is a quick-reference guide that organizes these common Midjourney issues by “symptom → cause → fix.” Follow the steps one by one, and you can usually get things working again without reinstalling.
Can’t see the newbie channels or can’t find the bot entry point
If you can’t find the Midjourney channels in Discord, first confirm that you joined the official Midjourney server and that your account has passed Discord’s basic verification. For many people, the channels are simply collapsed: in the left channel list, click “Browse Channels/Channel Directory” and check the relevant channels to make them visible.
If you just want to generate quietly, it’s recommended to DM the Midjourney Bot directly (search “Midjourney Bot” in Discord and then click Message). You can also use Midjourney commands in DMs, and it’s less likely to be disrupted by channel spam.
/imagine has no response; commands won’t send
Midjourney mainly runs via Discord slash commands. If typing /imagine does nothing, first check whether you’re in a channel that forbids app commands: in the channel settings or server permissions, make sure you have the “Use Application Commands” permission.
Another common cause is that you typed plain text “/imagine” in the input box but didn’t select it from the pop-up command menu. The correct way is to type “/”, choose /imagine, and then fill in the description in the prompt field; only then can Midjourney recognize it as a command request.
