Claude FAQ: Handling Send Failures, File Uploads, and Account Restrictions

Claude

When using Claude for writing or organizing materials, the easiest things to get stuck on are “can’t send,” “can’t upload,” and “suddenly restricted.” This article breaks down common Claude issues by scenario and gives you a troubleshooting sequence you can act on immediately, prioritizing the most frequent and most time-consuming cases.

Can’t log in & account restrictions: Check the environment first, then security

If Claude login gets stuck or keeps bouncing back to the login page, usually start by checking the browser environment: log out, clear cache and cookies, then try again in an incognito window. If you have ad blocking, script managers, or privacy extensions enabled, temporarily disable them first—they may block Claude’s verification flow.

If you see an account-restricted message or are asked for additional verification, first check whether you’re frequently switching IPs or logging in on multiple devices within a short time. Stick to your primary devices, avoid repeated refreshes and repeated logins, and you can often restore normal Claude access faster than by “trying a few more times.”

Message send failures: Network, conversation length, and rate are the key factors

If Claude shows “send failed/request error,” first check whether your network is stable—corporate networks and public Wi‑Fi in particular can be prone to packet loss. Next, split the same long message into several parts, and delete unnecessary long quotes in the conversation to reduce the load per request.

If you keep rapid-fire follow-ups or repeatedly resend in a short period, Claude may temporarily limit your request rate. A more reliable approach is to wait a bit before sending again, or start a new conversation and reorganize the question—put the key information up front so Claude can produce a usable result in one go.

File upload failures: Wrong format, file too large, or poor text readability

If Claude gets stuck uploading a file, first confirm the file type is commonly supported and readable, and avoid treating a scanned image PDF as “searchable text.” Export to text when possible, or first convert key pages into clear images before uploading to improve Claude’s recognition success rate.

If you encounter “no content after upload/incomplete parsing,” split large files into multiple smaller ones, or keep only the chapters you need analyzed. Using English letters and numbers for file names is more reliable; too many special symbols in the path can also affect Claude’s upload process.

Answers become short, off-topic, or refused: Rewriting the prompt is more effective than repeated follow-ups

If Claude suddenly becomes very cautious or much shorter, a common reason is that your goal isn’t clear enough or the context is too messy. Write your requirement as “what needs to be delivered, what the format is, what points must be included,” and put examples at the end—Claude will be more likely to produce stable output.

When Claude says it can’t help, first check whether your message includes sensitive personal information, long copyrighted text verbatim, or overly leading requests. Reframe it as “summarize the key points/give a learning approach/provide alternative solutions,” and you can usually keep making progress within compliance boundaries.

Chat history or content can’t be found: Don’t assume it’s gone

Claude’s conversation list may occasionally load slowly or display incompletely. Refresh the page first, then switch networks or log in with another browser to verify. You can also locate a chat by searching for keywords from its title in the list, to avoid assuming content disappeared among multiple similar conversations.

To reduce losses caused by common Claude issues, copy important outputs into a local document or knowledge base in a timely manner—especially long drafts, structured lists, and tables. That way, even if a session becomes abnormal, you won’t be forced to start over from scratch.
