How to troubleshoot Claude errors: fixing send failures, rate limits, and blank white screens

When you encounter a Claude error, don’t keep clicking Send repeatedly. Most Claude errors can be resolved quickly by pinpointing whether the issue is with the network, the browser, or your quota/rate limiting. Below is a practical troubleshooting sequence based on the most common symptoms.

First, confirm: which type of Claude error is it?

Step 1: Look at the prompt message and where it happens—is the message failing to send, is it stuck loading, or does the page turn completely white? Step 2: Open Anthropic’s official status page to confirm whether the service is under high load or experiencing an incident; if the status page reports an outage, there’s little you can do on your side to restore it immediately. Step 3: On the same network, switch to another browser or an incognito window to determine whether the Claude error is account-side or specific to your local environment.

Message send failed / can’t get a reply: prioritize network and content triggers

The most common cause of this type of Claude error is an unstable network or a request being interrupted mid-way: refresh the page first, then split the same content into shorter parts and resend (especially for very long pastes or content with lots of code blocks or tables). If it fails every time you send, check whether it contains sensitive terms, text that looks like bulk marketing, or too many external links, and rewrite it appropriately before trying again. If it still doesn’t work, log out and back in—many Claude errors caused by an “abnormal session state” will be reset.

Rate limit / too many requests: lowering the “frequency” is what helps

When the Claude error resembles prompts like “Too many requests/Rate limit,” continuing to click repeatedly will only prolong the recovery time. Stop for a while before sending again, and reduce rapid back-to-back follow-up messages by combining your questions into a single, more complete instruction. If you’re using multiple devices at the same time, closing the frequent chat on one side can also significantly reduce the likelihood of Claude errors.

Blank white screen / login loop: usually cache, extensions, or cookie settings

A white screen or endless redirects are usually not model issues, but Claude errors caused by browser storage and blocking. Follow this order: first disable ad blockers/script-related extensions, then clear site cache and cookies, and finally check whether necessary cookies are being blocked (including third-party cookie settings). If your corporate network uses a proxy or security gateway, testing once via a mobile hotspot can quickly confirm whether a network policy is triggering the Claude error.

Still no results: use the minimal reproducible method to pinpoint and submit details

If the Claude error keeps happening, use a “minimal reproducible” record: the exact error message, the steps to reproduce, browser version, whether it’s incognito, and whether it happens only on a specific network. Try the same issue again in an incognito window with extensions disabled; if it still errors, contacting support channels will be easier to handle quickly. Don’t just screenshot “it failed”—clearly describe the conditions that trigger the Claude error, and it will be much more efficient.
