When using Midjourney, if it suddenly stops generating images, the queue gets stuck, or it prompts interaction failure, it’s usually not that “the model is broken,” but that something is wrong with permissions, subscription status, or the network path. Below, we troubleshoot by symptom, aiming to restore Midjourney to normal via the shortest path.
First, look at the symptom: is the job queued, failing outright, or “disappearing”?
If Midjourney keeps showing Queued or the progress doesn’t move, first type “/info” in the chat to confirm whether you’re in Fast/Relax mode, and whether you still have available credits or Fast time. If the job “disappears” as if no message comes back, prioritize checking whether the channel where you sent the command has the right permissions, and whether you’re in DMs or in a restricted channel.
Also, the Midjourney web app and Discord can occasionally get out of sync: go back to Discord to find the record for the same job first, then decide whether you need to resend the command.
Common message #1: This interaction failed
When Midjourney shows “interaction failed,” the most common cause is an unstable Discord connection or a frozen client. Refresh Discord first (restart the desktop app; hard-refresh the web app), then switch networks (for example, from a corporate network to a mobile hotspot) to verify whether it’s a routing/link issue.
If the error happens only in a specific server/channel, try switching to your own DM window or another channel and run the same “/imagine.” In many cases, channel permissions, bot command permissions, or channel rate limits cause Midjourney interaction failures.
Common message #2: Subscription/permission issues preventing generation
When Midjourney says the subscription is unavailable, you don’t have permission to use commands, or you can’t queue jobs, use “/info” first to verify you’re logged into the correct account, the subscription is active, and you’ve switched to a mode that allows generation. Especially with multiple accounts, if the Discord account you’re logged into doesn’t match the account bound to the Midjourney subscription, it can look like “you can see the interface but can’t generate images.”
