Claude Troubleshooting Manual: Fixes for Output Interruptions, Page Errors, and Upload Failures

Claude

If Claude won’t open, answers get cut off, or files won’t upload, it’s often not because your “account is broken,” but due to network issues, browser cache, or server congestion. This Claude troubleshooting guide is organized by priority: first use the fastest methods to narrow down the cause, then apply targeted fixes. Following these steps usually restores normal Claude use within a few minutes.

First, determine whether Claude’s server is fluctuating

If Claude frequently shows “Something went wrong,” “Overloaded,” or keeps spinning, don’t rush to clear your cache. First check Anthropic’s status page (status.anthropic.com). If the status page shows an incident or degraded performance, the only things you can do on your end are wait, try again later, or use Claude at a different time.

If the status page looks normal but you’re seeing errors across multiple pages, try logging into Claude once in an incognito/private window on the same network. An incognito window quickly rules out extension conflicts and stale cache interference, making it the most time-saving starting point for Claude troubleshooting.

What to do about a blank screen, slow loading, or abnormal login redirects in Claude

If the Claude webpage is blank or stuck loading, it’s usually related to browser extensions, script blocking, or proxy settings. First temporarily disable ad blockers, script managers, and privacy/anti-tracking extensions, then force refresh the page (Windows: Ctrl+F5, Mac: Cmd+Shift+R) and try again.

If it’s still abnormal, it’s recommended to clear only Claude-related site data: in your browser settings, delete the cache and cookies for claude.ai, then log back into Claude. On the network side, try to avoid frequently switching nodes or using an unstable proxy—login-stage redirects are the easiest to get blocked, causing Claude to repeatedly return to verification pages or a blank page.

Claude output interruptions, repeated answers, or inability to continue generating

If Claude stops halfway through an answer, common causes are network jitter or an overly long context. First copy and save what has already been generated, then click Regenerate, or split the question into two or three smaller steps and have Claude output in sections—stability will improve noticeably.

If Claude can’t pick up even after “continue writing,” or keeps repeating the same sentence, it’s usually due to an abnormal conversation thread state. The most effective troubleshooting approach is to start a new chat, paste the key context as bullet points, and explicitly ask: “Continue from point X; do not repeat the earlier text.”

Claude file upload failures, parsing errors, and format compatibility

When Claude shows an upload error, first check three things: whether the file is too large, whether the format is common, and whether the filename contains special symbols. Convert the file to a more universal format (such as PDF, TXT, or common image formats), and simplify the filename to English letters/numbers before uploading again—this often resolves Claude upload failures.

If Claude reports a parsing failure, the file may be encrypted, corrupted, or a scanned document without selectable text. You can try “Save As/Print to PDF” to remove problematic structures, or export key pages as images and have Claude read them. If the content is very long, upload in batches and ask questions in segments—this is the most reliable troubleshooting path.
