Claude Opus 4.6 User Guide: Registration & Verification, Email Linking, and Account Switching

Claude

This article clearly walks you through getting started with Claude Opus 4.6: from signing up and logging in, completing verification, to linking an email and switching between multiple accounts. The steps are written to match the actual interface flow; follow along and you generally won’t take any detours. You only need a working email address and a stable network connection.

Registering a Claude Opus 4.6 account and first login

After opening Claude’s official web entry, choose to sign up with email or use a third-party account for one-click sign-in. Email registration usually requires setting a password and completing email verification; third-party sign-in will skip some of the information-filling steps. After you successfully sign in and enter the chat page, you can start using Claude Opus 4.6 features (provided your account has access to this model).

If the page keeps loading or you can’t enter the chat page, refresh once first, then try signing in again in an incognito/private window. In most cases, the loading failure is caused by cache issues or extension blocking, not because Claude Opus 4.6 itself is unavailable.

Completing verification, linking your email, and basic security settings

When you sign up with email, the system will send a verification email to your inbox. Open the email and click the verification link to complete the linking. It’s recommended to use your primary email as the main sign-in method, which makes account recovery and device management much easier later. If you frequently change network environments, the verification steps may become stricter; this is normal risk-control behavior.

For security settings, prioritize enabling the security options you can see in your account center (such as login alerts, session management, etc.). These won’t affect everyday use of Claude Opus 4.6, but they significantly reduce the chance of being interrupted by suspicious-login checks.

Switching to Claude Opus 4.6 in chat and setting common preferences

After entering any conversation, look for the “Model” selector near the input box or at the top of the chat. If Claude Opus 4.6 appears in the list, simply select it; if you don’t see it, it’s usually because your account doesn’t have access yet or because of regional/network policy restrictions. Switching models only affects the output of the current or subsequent conversations and will not change your account information.

It’s recommended to set up your common preferences as well, such as language, whether to retain context, and your preferred output format. The clearer your preferences are, the more consistently Claude Opus 4.6 can follow your habits, reducing the back-and-forth cost of revising requirements.

Account switching, multi-device sign-in, and secure logout

When you need to switch accounts, the most reliable method is to log out from the account menu first, then log in to the other account. If you switch frequently within the same browser, it’s recommended to use different browser profiles/user directories for different accounts so cookies don’t interfere with each other and sessions stay cleaner. Using Claude Opus 4.6 on multiple devices at the same time is fine, but don’t enable “stay signed in” on unfamiliar devices.

On public computers or temporary devices, be sure to log out when you’re done, and check “Logged-in devices/sessions” in the account center to remove any sessions you don’t recognize. This way, even if your password is leaked, it will be harder for others to maintain access to your Claude Opus 4.6 chat history.
