After subscribing to Midjourney, the most common frustration isn’t not knowing how to generate images, but “I was charged but didn’t get upgraded,” “my credits don’t seem to have changed,” and “I can’t find the bill.” Below, we’ll break down the easiest pitfalls in Midjourney and explain them clearly—follow the steps and you can usually pinpoint the cause.
What to do if you’ve been charged but your Midjourney membership isn’t active
First, confirm that you’re logged into the exact same Midjourney account that was used when you were charged. Many people switch emails/Discord accounts in the browser and end up checking the wrong account. Open the Account/Billing page on the Midjourney website and see whether your current plan shows as upgraded. If nothing has changed, log out and log back in, refresh the page, and wait a few minutes for it to sync. If you have a Midjourney payment receipt in your email (including an order/receipt number) but the account still shows as free, it’s usually a case of “you paid on Account A, but you’re looking at Account B.”
Fast hours or credits not refreshed: it’s actually a billing-cycle and mode issue
Midjourney’s Fast hours and available credits are typically settled by billing cycle. A successful renewal does not necessarily mean it will be “topped up” immediately—you should rely on the next billing/reset time shown on your account page. You also need to confirm whether you’re using Fast mode or Relax mode: if you keep using Fast, it will feel more like “why did it run out so quickly?” Switching to Relax shifts the load from compute time to queue time. It’s recommended that you check your plan, usage, and generation mode on the Midjourney account page, then decide whether to temporarily switch to Relax.
