Claude Registration & Login Tutorial: Email Verification, Account Linking Methods, and Account Switching Guide

Claude

This article only covers Claude’s web-based registration, how to choose a login method, and the most commonly used way to switch accounts in daily use. Many people think “clicking a different login button is still the same account,” and end up splitting chats and subscriptions across different accounts. Follow the steps below to sort out Claude account management once and for all.

Before registering for Claude, first confirm the entry point and environment

Claude’s official web entry is claude.ai. It’s recommended to type it directly into the browser address bar to avoid landing on a fake site. When using Claude for the first time, try to register in a regular window of your usual browser, and avoid temporary incognito mode, so you don’t lose your login state after clicking the verification link. If your company network blocks it and the Claude page doesn’t load completely, switch networks before continuing.

Complete Claude registration and email verification using your email

After entering claude.ai, click Sign up/Continue, choose the “Email” path, enter your commonly used email address, and complete verification as prompted. Claude’s typical email verification sends a login/confirmation email; open the email and click the button to return to the webpage and automatically log in. If you click the email link but end up back in a logged-out state, it’s usually because the browser blocked the redirect or third-party cookies—try a different browser or disable privacy extensions and try again.

How to choose a login method: don’t “register two” Claude accounts by mistake

Claude usually supports logging in with email or with Google, etc., but “the same email address” does not equal “the same Claude account.” For example, if you first registered Claude using email, and later click Google login, even if the Google account uses the same email address, it may be treated as a separate account system, and chat history and permissions will not be merged automatically. The safest approach is: use the same login method you used when you first registered Claude, consistently, for all future logins.

The right way to switch Claude accounts: log out, browser profiles, and running multiple sessions

To switch Claude accounts, first find Log out/Sign out in the page settings, then log in again with the target account—this is the cleanest method. If you need to switch back and forth frequently between two Claude accounts, it’s recommended to use separate browser profiles (Profile) and open two windows, each storing its own cookies, so they don’t kick each other out. For temporary switching, you can also log in to a second Claude account in an incognito window, but after closing the incognito window, the login state usually won’t be preserved.

Common sticking points: login loops, not receiving verification emails, blank pages

If Claude gets stuck in a loop where “after logging in it jumps back to the login page,” first clear cookies related to claude.ai, or retry in a plugin-free browser. If you don’t receive the verification email, check the spam/junk folder or promotions tab, add the sender domain to your whitelist, and resend; some email providers may delay delivery by a few minutes. If the Claude page is blank or buttons don’t respond, it’s mostly related to script blocking or network policies—disable ad blockers and switch networks, then log in again, and it usually returns to normal.
