ChatGPT Registration and Login Binding Guide: Email, Google, Apple Entry Points

This how-to guide explains clearly how to register for ChatGPT, how to log in, and what many people misunderstand about “binding login methods.” Follow the steps and you can avoid common pitfalls such as using the wrong entry point, accidentally creating a new account, or being unable to retrieve your chat history.

Before registering for ChatGPT, first confirm three things

Use a stable network and your usual browser to open the official ChatGPT website (it’s recommended to use an incognito window to eliminate cache interference). Prepare an email address that can receive messages normally, as you may need to receive a verification code or confirmation email later. If the page keeps refreshing or appears blank, first try switching networks and clearing the site cache, then try again.

Three entry points for registration and login: Email / Google / Apple

On the ChatGPT login page, click “Sign up” to start registration, and the system will ask you to choose an entry point. If you choose “Continue with email,” follow the prompts to enter your email and complete email verification, then set a password. If you choose “Continue with Google/Apple,” it will redirect you for authorization; after authorization succeeds, it will directly create and log you into the corresponding ChatGPT account.

The same ChatGPT account is usually tied to the “entry point chosen at first registration,” so how you enter the first time is crucial. When logging in later, try to keep using the same entry point to avoid mistakes.

About “binding login methods”: ChatGPT is more like a “fixed entry point”

Many people think ChatGPT can bind email, Google, and Apple to the same account, but in actual use, it’s more common that different entry points generate different accounts. If you registered ChatGPT with email and then log in with “Google,” you may see a brand-new account, and of course your history won’t be there.

There’s a simple way to tell which ChatGPT entry point you used: log out, return to the login page, and try logging in once with each entry point you remember. See which one takes you back to your original chats and avatar/settings. After confirming, note down that entry point and use only it to log in from then on.

Quick fixes for common issues: verification codes, login loops, “no account” prompts

If you can’t receive the ChatGPT email verification code, first check the spam folder and the “Promotions/Subscriptions” category, and add the sender domain to your allowlist; if it still doesn’t work, try again with a different email address. If you encounter a loop where you’re sent back to the login page after logging in, first clear your browser cookies and site data, or use an incognito window and then log in to ChatGPT again.

If it says “account does not exist,” it’s most likely that you chose the wrong login entry point: if you registered with email, use the email entry; if you registered with Google, use the Google entry. Once the entry point matches, your ChatGPT chat history and settings will usually reappear.
