Claude Account Registration and Login Guide: Email Verification, Logging Out, and Switching Accounts

Claude

This article explains the complete process for Claude from registration to login, including what to do if you don’t receive the email verification, how to log out safely, and how to switch Claude accounts on the same computer without mixing accounts. Follow the steps and you can avoid most common beginner pitfalls.

1) Claude registration: two methods—email and third-party login

After opening the official Claude website, the registration entry usually offers “Continue with email” or “Continue with a third-party account.” If you choose email registration, enter a commonly used email address and submit it; Claude will send a verification email with a login link. If you choose third-party login, just authorize it on the page to complete Claude account creation.

2) Email verification and login: what to do if the link expires or you don’t receive the email

Logging in to Claude via email generally relies on an “email login link.” After you click it, verification is completed in the browser and you’ll enter the chat page. If you’re told the link has expired, go back to the login page and send a new Claude login email. If you don’t receive the email, first check the spam folder and the “Promotions/Subscriptions” categories, then add the sender domain to your allowlist; corporate email often blocks it, so registering Claude with a personal email is usually easier.

3) Logging out and switching Claude accounts: practical ways to avoid account mix-ups

Find the log-out option in the personal menu at the top right of the Claude page. Log out first and then log in to another account—this is the most reliable way to switch Claude accounts. If you frequently use multiple accounts back and forth, it’s recommended to create two separate browser “users/profiles,” each logged in to a different Claude account, so caches and cookies don’t interfere with each other. For temporary switching, you can also log in to Claude in an incognito window and simply close the window when you’re done to clear the session.

4) Claude login security on shared computers: avoid leaving access behind

When using Claude in an internet cafe or on a shared computer, be sure you have logged out and closed all Claude pages. If you’re worried there may still be remnants, clear the site’s cookies and cache, then reopen the browser and check whether it still logs into Claude automatically. It’s also recommended to periodically review security and session-related settings in your Claude account to reduce the risk of accidental logins.
