Elon Musk's social platform X recently announced that it will reduce payments to users who publish clickbait and recycled news content, addressing the issue of low-quality content "flooding the timeline." X product lead Nikita Bier stated on the platform that this move aims to optimize the creator revenue sharing program and encourage higher-quality content creation. The platform warned account holders to avoid gaining improper profits by quickly repackaging news.
Specifically, all "aggregators"—users who frequently repost and repackage news from other accounts—have already received lower payments from the revenue sharing program. Bier emphasized that users who abuse the "BREAKING" label on every post will face permanent payment reductions. Additionally, X is testing new tools to identify the original authors of content and allocate a portion of revenue to them, thereby rewarding originality. The platform also added that it will prohibit users who publish unlabeled AI-generated war videos from earning revenue, to curb the spread of misleading content.
