Recently, the social platform X (formerly Twitter) acquired by Elon Musk announced that it has reduced payments to users who publish clickbait and recycled news stories. The platform warns account holders not to "flood the timeline" with low-quality content to enhance the overall information ecosystem. This move directly affects users profiting from the creator revenue sharing program, signaling an upgrade in X's content quality control.
X product lead Nikita Bier posted on the platform that all "aggregators"—users who quickly repackage and repost news from other accounts—have received lower payouts from the revenue sharing program. Additionally, users who abuse the "BREAKING" tag on every post face permanent payment reductions. Bier added in another post that X is testing new tools designed to "identify the original authors of content" and "allocate a portion of revenue to them" to encourage original creation.
