Elon Musk's social media platform X has recently updated its creator revenue sharing program, aiming to crack down on rampant clickbait and news "recycling" on the platform. The platform's product lead, Nikita Bier, confirmed in a post that "aggregator" accounts, which quickly repackage and repost others' news content, have seen their ad revenue share reduced. This is part of X's effort to warn users against flooding timelines with low-quality content.
The new regulations outline specific penalties: users who misuse the "breaking news" tag across all posts will face permanent revenue cuts. Meanwhile, X is testing new tools to identify original content authors and allocate a portion of revenue to them. Additionally, the platform announced that users posting unlabeled AI-generated war videos will be barred from earning through the program. These steps demonstrate X's commitment to finding a new balance between content quality and incentivizing originality.
