According to tech media 9to5Google, Google's AI assistant Gemini app has encountered a noticeable bug on the Android platform. This issue has led to the rollback of several recently updated features within the app, and the user interface has unexpectedly reverted to an older design. Specifically, the Android system overlay style has returned to a previous version, and full access to the Tools menu is unavailable.

This bug has affected users running Google app version 17.14, including both stable and beta versions, with reports concentrated over the past day. Google has not yet issued an official statement on the matter. Fortunately, the bug is limited to the mobile app, and the web version at Gemini.google.com remains unaffected. Users who urgently need Gemini functionality can access the full experience via a mobile browser or progressive web app.

Editor's Note: While this bug did not cause a service outage, the unexpected rollback of core features and the interface has undoubtedly impacted user experience, particularly as such issues are uncommon in stable releases. This highlights the stability challenges Google faces while rapidly iterating on AI products. Google is expected to address the problem soon through server-side updates or app patches to maintain user trust in its AI assistant.
