According to 9to5Google, a serious bug has recently appeared in the Android Gemini app, causing multiple newly released features to be unexpectedly rolled back and the user interface to revert to an old design. The affected users are primarily those on Google app version 17.14, both stable and beta channels, with the issue emerging over the past day or two. Notably, the mobile or progressive web app experience via browser at gemini.google.com has not been affected, and users can still access the rolled-back features normally.
Specific symptoms of this bug include: the Android system-level Gemini overlay has reverted to its old style, and users are unable to fully access new options in the "Tools" menu. Previously available quick actions and content generation features via the Gemini app are temporarily unavailable. 9to5Google noted that this is an error caused by a code defect within the app itself, not a server-side change, and it only affects the native Android app. Both stable and beta users may encounter this issue.
