Recently, a critical bug in the Google Gemini app for Android has unintentionally removed several newly added features and reverted the user interface (UI) to an older version. According to 9to5Google, the issue has impacted both stable and beta users of Google app version 17.14 for over a day. Affected users report that the "Tools" menu within the Android system overlay is no longer accessible, and the overall interaction experience has regressed to its pre-update state.
It is worth noting that this bug is limited to the Gemini mobile app and does not affect the Gemini web version. Users can still access the full mobile and progressive web app (PWA) experience by visiting gemini.google.com, where all features removed from the app are fully functional. Google has not yet issued an official statement regarding the bug, but industry speculation points to a recent server-side configuration error or a client-side code rollback. For users who rely on the Gemini app for daily AI assistance, it is recommended to temporarily use the web version via a browser to avoid the issue.
