According to a report from 9to5Google, a widespread bug has recently affected the Google Gemini Android app, rolling back multiple features that were introduced in recent updates. Users on both the stable and beta versions of Google App 17.14 have reported that the Gemini Android overlay has reverted to an older design, with the Tools menu being completely inaccessible. However, the web version of Gemini (gemini.google.com) is not affected by this bug, and users can still access its full functionality via mobile browsers or the Progressive Web App (PWA).
This rollback comes as an unexpected setback after Google’s major UI overhaul for the Gemini Android app in early March. That redesign consolidated scattered buttons and the three-dot menu into a unified “Tools” button, and moved the disclaimer from below the chat input to the end of each response to free up screen space. The current bug appears to have temporarily undone those improvements. Notably, just days earlier (April 7), Google restored the 2.0 Flash Thinking experimental model on both iOS and Android, and earlier (February 18) it had fully removed the older 1.5 Flash and 1.5 Pro models. Gemini 2.0 Flash remains the only stable model available in the app.
