OpenClaw AI Agent Now Works with VPN Connections — Automate Your Tunnel Management

Virtual Private Network provider Windscribe has announced that its VPN software now natively integrates with the AI agent platform OpenClaw, allowing AI agents to directly control and manage VPN connections. This integration means users can issue natural language or preset instructions to have the AI agent automatically execute VPN-related operations, thereby improving network efficiency and security.

Specific features include: ensuring the VPN tunnel automatically reconnects after a device reboot; enabling the AI agent to perform "geo-switching" based on task requirements, i.e., selecting servers only from specific regions; and setting up an emergency kill switch for the agent, which immediately cuts the connection when anomalies are detected to prevent data leaks. These features simplify complex VPN management workflows into programmable instruction sets.

Windscribe has published the open-source code for the relevant skills on GitHub. Any AI framework that follows the same skill specifications can utilize them, not limited to OpenClaw. This move is expected to promote broader application of AI agents in the field of cybersecurity and privacy protection, but it also raises discussions about agent permission control and potential risks.
