Google announced today that its Gemini voice assistant on the Google Home smart home platform has entered the early access phase for its Continued Conversation feature. This update means users no longer need to repeat the wake word "Hey Google" before each subsequent command during an interaction, significantly improving the natural flow and efficiency of voice conversations.
According to Google's official explanation, the new feature can more accurately distinguish between a user's follow-up questions and background conversation in the room. For example, after Gemini reads a recipe aloud and lists the ingredients in detail, the user can simply say "Add these to my shopping list" without needing to wake the assistant again. Google emphasizes that this improvement aims to eliminate the frustration of frequent wake-word prompts, making the conversation experience smoother.
