Claude Now Connects to Your Personal Apps: Spotify, Uber, and More

Anthropic announced today that its AI assistant Claude now supports direct connections to users' personal apps, including popular services like Spotify, Uber Eats, and TurboTax. Previously, Claude already supported connections to office apps like Microsoft. This expansion extends the feature to personal life scenarios, covering music, transportation, taxes, shopping, and more. The new capability is available to all Claude users, with mobile integration still in beta testing.

Specifically, users can link Claude to apps such as Audible, Spotify, Uber, AllTrails, TripAdvisor, Instacart, and TurboTax. For example, users can ask Claude to create a Spotify playlist, place a grocery order via Instacart, or handle tax matters using TurboTax. When multiple apps may be relevant, Claude automatically shows results from those apps, ranked by "most useful" order. Anthropic emphasized that there is no paid promotion or sponsored answers in these interactions.

To ensure user safety, Claude will proactively ask for user confirmation before performing sensitive operations such as payments or bookings. This mechanism aims to balance convenience with user control. The update marks a shift for AI assistants from pure conversation tools to gateways for life services, and more high-frequency personal scenarios could be covered in the future.

Our Take: Claude is moving from office scenarios into personal life. This "AI + app direct connection" model has the potential to reshape how users interact with digital services. However, privacy and security remain key challenges, and Anthropic will need to continuously demonstrate its data protection capabilities.
