Google’s AI assistant Gemini has rolled out a significant update. According to 9to5Google, Gemini can now directly generate downloadable files in multiple formats, including Google Workspace documents (Docs, Sheets, Slides), PDF, DOCX, XLSX, CSV, LaTeX, plain text (TXT), rich text (RTF), and Markdown (MD). Users simply ask in the conversation and get a complete, ready-to-download file without leaving the Gemini app—turning brainstorming into polished output in seconds.
The feature is available to all Gemini users globally. Google says this move is designed to help people turn ideas into usable file formats more efficiently and streamline their workflows. In addition, Gemini’s personalization features—including its “memory” capability (which remembers key details and preferences users share) and the ability to import chat history from other AI apps—have been expanded to the UK, further enhancing cross-app collaboration.
