OPenClaw is a practical tool, but many first-time users find registration, device binding, and account switching confusing. This guide breaks down the entire process—from zero to full usage—so you can start using OPenClaw seamlessly.
Registration & Account Creation
Start by visiting the OPenClaw official website and clicking the "Sign Up" button. We recommend using a frequently used email address and creating a password that includes uppercase letters, lowercase letters, and numbers. After email verification, you'll be prompted to set up two-factor authentication upon login—Google Authenticator or Authy are solid choices. This extra step may feel a bit tedious, but it significantly boosts account security. Once registered, the system automatically assigns a default workspace, allowing you to access OPenClaw's core features directly from the interface.
Device Binding & Authorization Management
OPenClaw supports simultaneous logins on multiple devices, but each new device requires a one-time binding step. Under your main logged-in account, go to "Settings > Device Management," click "Add Device," and scan the QR code. Note that each device authorization is valid for 30 days and must be renewed after expiration. If binding fails, check whether your device time is synced with the network, or try clearing your browser cache and retrying. Once bound, the device automatically syncs your configurations and preferences.
Multi-Account Switching & Common Issues
Many users need to manage multiple OPenClaw accounts—for example, separating work and personal use. Click the avatar icon in the top-right corner, select "Switch Account," and enter the email and password of the new account. The system retains the original account's login state, so you don't need to repeatedly log out. If switching is slow or throws an error, network instability might be the cause—try a more stable connection. Also, note that OPenClaw currently does not support simultaneous API requests from multiple active accounts, so ensure the currently active account has sufficient quota.
