Google's AI assistant Gemini has rolled out a significant update today, allowing users to generate downloadable, shareable files in a variety of formats directly within the app. According to 9to5Google, the feature is now available to all Gemini users worldwide, supporting the creation of Google Workspace files (Docs, Sheets, Slides) as well as PDF, DOCX, XLSX, CSV, LaTeX, plain TXT, RTF, and Markdown. Google says the update is designed to help users "quickly move from brainstorming to complete files without leaving the Gemini app."
The new feature streamlines workflows significantly: users simply ask Gemini to, for example, "turn these meeting notes into a Word document" or "make a table from this data," and the AI generates the corresponding file in the chat interface, allowing one-click download or sharing. This covers a wide range of use cases—from office documents to data files and technical formatting—making it especially useful for students, freelancers, and business users who need to produce standardized files quickly.
