On Thursday, OpenAI officially launched the Advanced Account Security (AAS) feature, a set of optional protective measures for ChatGPT users. Although this feature is specifically designed for high-value users, it can be actively enabled by all users. Meanwhile, digital security company Yubico announced a partnership with OpenAI, linking two new security key products to ChatGPT accounts. The goal is to significantly reduce the risk of unauthorized access to sensitive data across OpenAI accounts worldwide.
Yubico CEO Jerrod Chong said in a press release, “Our ultimate goal is to significantly reduce the threat of unauthorized access to OpenAI accounts.” This partnership follows OpenAI's recent launch of a new digital defense framework. Security keys are hardware devices that can be connected via a computer’s USB port, effectively countering the growing threat of phishing attacks. However, adopting this strong protection comes with a trade-off: if the key is lost, OpenAI cannot assist in recovering account access.
