Celebrating its 20th anniversary, X (formerly Twitter) officially launched its biggest advertising system overhaul in April 2026. The new ad platform fully integrates an AI-powered search and ranking system, designed to offer advertisers more accurate, relevant, and dynamic ad delivery. According to X, this upgrade is "the most ambitious ad platform rebuild since the company's founding," with the new system capable of understanding user behavior in real time and capturing platform trends, significantly improving ad efficiency and return on investment (ROI).
At the core of this revamp is a next-generation AI ad engine. It combines cutting-edge search and ranking models that dynamically adjust ad matching strategies based on users' current interests, interaction patterns, and real-time trending topics on X. The redesigned ad management interface also helps advertisers create and optimize campaigns more quickly. X says the upgrade will roll out to global users in phases, with promises to introduce smarter automation features in future iterations—such as dynamic search ads and auto-generated ad creatives, similar to Google's "AI Max" capabilities.
