Global content and technology company Thomson Reuters announced on May 12 that it has expanded its strategic partnership with Anthropic, launching a new Model Context Protocol (MCP) integration that connects Claude directly to CoCounsel Legal, its AI platform designed for legal professionals. This means legal practitioners can now seamlessly invoke CoCounsel Legal's "fiduciary-grade" AI functions within Claude's workflow, enabling efficient cross-platform collaboration.

Thomson Reuters Chief Product Officer David Wong said the company is focused on making CoCounsel Legal the core fiduciary-grade system for legal work, integrating it into the tools lawyers use daily while meeting the accuracy, accountability, and trust their work demands. This integration builds on Thomson Reuters' multi-year RAG architecture, which connects Claude to a vast database containing 150 years of proprietary publications and the expertise of more than 3,000 subject matter experts, ensuring authoritative and compliant outputs.

CoCounsel Legal's latest autonomous AI agent workflows have entered the Beta phase, featuring enhanced end-to-end autonomous execution capabilities that can automatically handle complex tasks such as document comparison, jurisdictional search, and draft review. Through this MCP integration, Claude users will receive the same fiduciary-grade standards as CoCounsel Legal, maintaining flexibility while meeting the highest compliance requirements of the legal industry.
