OpenAI officially launched its new consulting and services division—OpenAI Deployment Co. (DeployCo)—on Monday. According to Axios, the division received $4 billion in investment at a $10 billion pre-money valuation, bringing its total valuation to $14 billion. OpenAI retains majority control, while investors are guaranteed a minimum return of 17.5% with a cap on upside. This move signals OpenAI’s strategic expansion from model R&D into enterprise-level deployment services.
DeployCo is led by TPG, with Advent International, Bain Capital, and Brookfield joining as founding co-investors. Notably, Goldman Sachs is the only investor backing both OpenAI DeployCo and a similar project from rival Anthropic. OpenAI said DeployCo may acquire engineering teams with front-end deployment capabilities, and has already announced the acquisition of a company called Tomoro.
