Global biopharmaceutical leader Bristol Myers Squibb (NYSE: BMY) recently announced a strategic agreement with AI company Anthropic to deploy Claude Enterprise globally as a shared intelligence platform that connects R&D, clinical development, manufacturing, commercial, and corporate functions. The collaboration marks BMS’s shift from traditional conversational AI toward agentic capabilities, aiming to break down silos between people, systems, and institutional knowledge to achieve enterprise-scale collaborative intelligence.
Under the agreement, Claude will be securely integrated into BMS’s internal systems and knowledge repositories that hold scientific, clinical, regulatory, and commercial expertise. Leveraging its agentic capabilities, the platform can automatically generate research reports from clinical trial data, accurately extract relevant scientific background from decades of internal research, and even trace root causes of deviations in real time during manufacturing. Eric Kauderer-Abrams, Head of Life Sciences at Anthropic, noted that BMS is building a unified intelligence layer for employees by connecting thousands of data sources, activating knowledge where and when it’s needed, with full enterprise governance and audit controls in place.
