xAI’s large language model Grok is moving from an in-car voice assistant to a core component of Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology. According to multiple sources, Grok has begun directly participating in the computation and decision-making processes of Tesla’s autonomous driving system, marking its transformation from a “conversational tool” to part of the “driving brain.” This integration far exceeds industry expectations and has sparked discussions about the prospects of deep integration between AI models and autonomous driving.

Currently, Grok still exists in Tesla vehicles as a conversational AI assistant, capable of replacing the original voice command system with hands-free “Hey Grok” activation.
