OpenAI today announced that its advanced security feature, Lockdown Mode, is now available to all personal ChatGPT accounts and self-serve ChatGPT Business accounts. Previously restricted to enterprise executives and security teams — users with the highest security concerns — the mode was designed to provide the most comprehensive protection against potential attacks. Now, users across Free, Go, Plus, Pro, and self-serve Business accounts can activate this mode.
Users can enable Lockdown Mode in the ChatGPT settings under the "Security" option. Once activated, ChatGPT will restrict or disable several features that connect to networks and external services, minimizing the attack surface. Although OpenAI did not provide a complete list of disabled features in the announcement, it is known that the mode turns off interactions with external websites, plugins, and similar capabilities. At the same time, OpenAI also announced that Active sessions are now available for all ChatGPT accounts and workspace types, making it easier for users to manage login status across multiple devices.
