OpenAI announced today that it is expanding Lockdown Mode to all personal ChatGPT accounts and self-managed ChatGPT Business accounts. First launched in February of this year, the feature was initially available only to a small group of users with high security requirements, including corporate executives and security teams. Starting today, coverage extends to Free, Go, Plus, and Pro tier users, as well as self-managed Business users.
Users can enable this mode in the "Security" section of their ChatGPT settings. Once activated, ChatGPT restricts or disables all features that connect to the web or external services, including but not limited to web browsing, plugin integrations, and image generation. This move is designed to provide a "fortress-level" protective environment for users with the highest demands for data privacy and anti-tampering measures. Additionally, OpenAI simultaneously announced that the "Active sessions" feature is now available for all accounts and workspaces, giving users greater control over session management.
