Comprehensive OpenClaw FAQ: Fix Subscription Failures, Account Lockouts, and Request Errors

OpenClaw

OpenClaw users often encounter issues like subscription failures, sudden account lockouts, or request errors. This article covers the specific reasons behind these common problems and offers clear steps to resolve them, helping you restore normal usage quickly.

Common Causes and Fixes for OpenClaw Subscription Failures

If you see a “Payment Declined” or “Transaction Incomplete” message when subscribing to OpenClaw, it's usually because your bank card doesn't support international payments or has insufficient funds. Try using a Visa or MasterCard that supports foreign currency transactions, and make sure online cross-border payments are enabled on the card.

Some users in certain regions may encounter a “Region Not Supported” error during payment. This is often due to the IP address being recognized as a restricted area. Try switching to a network node in a supported region, then re-submit the order. Once the subscription is successful, you can use the service normally.

How to Unlock a Locked Account in Three Steps

An OpenClaw account is usually locked due to simultaneous logins from multiple devices, multiple incorrect password entries, or detection of an abnormal IP. After a lockout, go to the official login page, click “Forgot Password” to reset your password, and then check your registered email for an unlock confirmation link.

If the account remains locked after resetting the password, contact customer support with your registered email address and the time of your last successful login. Manual review typically takes 1–2 business days, and once it's confirmed that no unauthorized access occurred, the account will be unlocked.

Understanding and Handling Common Request Errors

Error 403 when using OpenClaw indicates insufficient permissions, often due to an expired subscription or incorrect API key configuration. Check your subscription status and regenerate the key in your account dashboard. Error 429 means the request frequency is too high—try reducing the interval between calls. The free plan allows up to 20 requests per minute.

Error 500 is usually a server-side issue not caused by the user. Wait 10 minutes and retry. If the error persists, visit the OpenClaw official status page to check if maintenance is ongoing.
