In early 2026, OpenClaw swept through the AI world like a sonic boom, giving developers a taste of both the power and chaos of unconstrained AI agents. Now, Microsoft has officially unveiled a new AI assistant called Scout, designed to bring the flexibility and capabilities of OpenClaw into the Microsoft 365 ecosystem. Built on the OpenClaw framework, Scout is an always-on agent assistant with a persistent identity and style that proactively adapts to user needs.
According to Omar Shahine, Vice President of Product for Microsoft Scout, the core design philosophy behind Scout is to create an assistant that actively adapts to what users need. It comes preloaded with skills like calendar management and meeting agenda drafting, but Shahine believes that user-developed custom skills are where Scout truly shines. The announcement is part of a series of AI product updates at Microsoft’s Build developer conference, alongside Project Solara for hardware, an updated Copilot, and a brand-new reasoning AI model.
