Anthropic Launches Claude Fable 5: Public Gets First Taste of the Mythos Model

AI company Anthropic officially launched Claude Fable 5 on Tuesday, the first public version of its most powerful AI model, Mythos. Departing from earlier strategies that restricted access to specific institutions, Anthropic is now making Fable 5 available to all users through the Claude API and consumption-based enterprise plans. At the same time, organizations that already have access to the advanced model will receive the upgraded Mythos 5. Anthropic states that this move aims to balance broad availability of cutting-edge AI with safety safeguards, marking a key step in bringing its technology to the public.

On data privacy, Anthropic has committed that it will not use user data for model training. Instead, data will only be used to "defend against complex and novel attacks, including new jailbreak attempts" and to "identify and reduce false positives." This policy could set a precedent for the industry: as model capabilities grow stronger, mandatory data retention clauses in the name of security may become the norm. Anthropic emphasizes that scenarios where Fable 5 relies on the previous-generation Opus 4.8 to handle requests are extremely rare. Early data shows that over 95% of sessions are fully handled by Fable 5 on its own, demonstrating its ability to independently manage complex tasks.

Editor's Note: By releasing its most powerful model to the public while establishing a clear protective framework, Anthropic is both unlocking technological benefits and attempting to find a balance between innovation and risk. Going forward, whether other AI companies adopt similar data security strategies will directly impact public trust and acceptance of advanced AI systems.
