Consumer health product manufacturer Haleon has announced a voluntary recall of four batches of Gas-X Extra Strength Softgels (125 mg, available in 120-count and 72-count bottles). The recall was triggered by a machine leak during the packaging process, which may have exposed the product to diluted propylene glycol-based coolant. According to the company, consuming the contaminated softgels could lead to adverse events including nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.
Only specific lots of Gas-X Extra Strength Softgels (green capsules with green seal packaging) are affected — other product lines such as Gas-X Ultra, Gas-X Maximum, and Gas-X Ultimate remain unaffected. The product is designed to quickly break down digestive gas, relieving pressure, bloating, and discomfort. Haleon stated it will implement corrective actions for the packaging process involved and expects to invest over $100 million in related facility upgrades.
