Google has officially launched Gemini 3.5 Live Translate, its latest end-to-end real-time voice translation model. The model continuously generates speech translations, dynamically balancing between waiting for more context to improve translation quality and delivering output immediately to stay in sync with the speaker. The feature is now rolling out to Google Translate on Android and iOS, and Google Meet will also integrate this capability to help users overcome language barriers during video conferences.
Notably, the Android version of Google Translate introduces a new "listening mode". In this mode, users can hear translated speech through the phone speaker without needing headphones. This design is especially useful in public places or situations where headphones are inconvenient, significantly improving the convenience and privacy of real-time translation.
