OpenAI recently announced that it is extending Lockdown Mode to all personal ChatGPT accounts and self-serve ChatGPT Business accounts. This security feature, previously reserved for users with high-level security needs—such as executives and security teams—is now available for Free, Go, Plus, Pro, and self-serve Business users. You can enable it by navigating to Settings > Security.
Once Lockdown Mode is activated, ChatGPT will restrict or disable several web-connected or external service features, including web browsing, plugin usage, and file uploads that could introduce external risks. This provides the most comprehensive protection against attacks, making it ideal for handling sensitive information or scenarios with strict data privacy requirements, effectively reducing the risk of data leaks and malicious intrusions.
