Google today released the latest version of the Gemini app for macOS, delivering upgrades in both appearance and functionality. The most noticeable change is the app icon: the previously subdued gray background has been replaced with a solid white background, aligning with the style seen on iOS, Android, and the download page. At the same time, the iconic Gemini star emblem has been slightly enlarged, further improving visual recognition. This design unification is expected to roll out to users this summer, alongside Gemini Spark and new voice features.
On the functionality side, Google last week unveiled a new screenshot shortcut: users can simply press both Command keys simultaneously to "seamlessly attach the current active window to a chat session." This eliminates the need for manual screenshots and drag-and-drop, offering a user experience similar to the Gemini overlay on Android. It provides a smoother multitasking entry point for Mac users.
