Google has pushed the latest version of the Gemini app to macOS users today, featuring a redesigned app icon and a practical screenshot shortcut. The previous gray background container has been updated to a clean white background, consistent with iOS, Android, and the app download page. The iconic Gemini spark icon has also been enlarged for a more unified visual style. According to the company, these design changes are expected to launch alongside Gemini Spark and the new voice features this summer.
The most notable addition in the new Gemini for Mac is the screenshot shortcut: users can simply press the two Command (⌘) keys simultaneously to "seamlessly attach the current active window to the chat conversation." This mechanism eliminates the need for manual screenshots and dragging, offering an experience similar to the Gemini overlay on Android. For Mac users who frequently capture screen content for queries or analysis, this shortcut is expected to significantly improve workflow efficiency.
