ChatGPT is one of the most popular AI conversation tools today, but many beginners get stuck during registration or when switching between accounts. This tutorial walks you through the entire process—from sign-up to managing multiple accounts—with no programming experience required. Just follow the steps and you'll be up and running.
Email Registration & Identity Verification
Start by opening the official ChatGPT website and clicking the "Sign Up" button. We recommend using a Gmail or Outlook email address—domestic QQ mail sometimes fails to receive verification emails. After entering your email, the system will send a verification link. Click it to proceed. You'll then need to set a strong password that includes uppercase and lowercase letters and numbers, with a minimum length of 8 characters.
Once your email is verified, you'll be asked to bind a phone number. ChatGPT restricts phone numbers by region—numbers from mainland China, Iran, Russia, and a few other countries are currently not supported. You can use a virtual SMS reception service (e.g., sms-activate.org) to purchase a temporary number from a supported country, which usually costs around 1–3 CNY. Make sure to select "OpenAI" as the service provider. After completing SMS verification, you'll be taken to the ChatGPT main interface.
Logging In & Switching Accounts Across Devices
To log in, simply enter your email and password on the website, or use the Google/Microsoft account quick-login option. If you need to use ChatGPT on both your computer and phone, just log in with the same account on different devices—your chat history will sync automatically.
