Google has pushed a new version of the Gemini app to macOS, bringing an updated interface icon and a practical screenshot shortcut. The container background has changed from gray to white, matching the visual style on iOS, Android, and the app download page. The Gemini spark icon has also been enlarged, creating a cleaner and more unified look across platforms.

On the functionality side, the highlight is a brand-new screenshot hotkey. Simply press two Command keys simultaneously to seamlessly attach your active window to a conversation, eliminating the need for manual screenshots. This interaction mirrors the Gemini overlay on Android. Additionally, users can customize the hotkey combination in settings—for example, Command+Shift+G—and then drag to select an area for a quick screenshot that's automatically sent to the Gemini chat.

Google previously announced plans to introduce these interface updates alongside Gemini Spark and new voice features this summer. This incremental macOS update further enhances Gemini's convenience as a desktop AI assistant, especially for users who frequently capture screen information for contextual analysis. It's a practical improvement for productivity.

Review: From icon consistency to hotkey interaction, Google is gradually replicating the streamlined mobile experience of Gemini on the desktop. The addition of a screenshot shortcut brings the AI assistant closer to users' actual workflows. We look forward to the upcoming integration of voice and Spark features for even bigger breakthroughs.
