Anthropic's Claude ecosystem suffered a brief but widespread outage on Tuesday. Users quickly reported errors affecting multiple products, including the Claude web interface, API, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork. Anthropic's status page showed the company was investigating abnormal errors across several models and these access points, first confirming the issue before 1:30 PM ET. The team then attempted fixes and continued monitoring, though a few models still showed fluctuations. This outage impacted not only casual chat users but also development teams relying on the API and coding tools.
This marks the second major service disruption for Claude in a short period. According to earlier reports, on Monday Claude went offline for nearly three hours due to "unprecedented demand", with nearly 2,000 users reporting issues on Downdetector. Anthropic confirmed at the time that consumer-facing services (including claude.ai and the app) were down, but enterprise API integrations remained unaffected. Separately, cybersecurity media noted that after restoring service, Anthropic was investigating unconfirmed claims of customer data exposure. The company stated that services were back online and continued monitoring models such as Opus.
