Google officially launched Wear OS 7 on June 16, the latest major update to its smartwatch platform, now rolling out to compatible Pixel Watch devices. This update focuses on user experience improvements, introducing Live Updates for the first time, allowing users to track dynamic tasks like food delivery and ride-hailing progress directly on the watch without repeatedly opening apps. Additionally, system-level battery optimization is a key focus, with official claims of extended daily usage through improved background scheduling.
Another highlight of this update is the Gemini AI assistant, now available on Wear OS 7. Gemini delivers more natural voice interaction and contextual understanding on the watch, helping users quickly reply to messages, set reminders, or search for information. Google stated that the Gemini integration will initially support English and select major markets, with language coverage expanding gradually. Wear OS 7 also includes refinements to notification management, watch face customization, and health tracking algorithms for smoother watch operation.
