On June 23, Anthropic's AI assistant Claude experienced a brief outage, with a large number of users reporting access errors. The disruption impacted multiple components of the Claude ecosystem, including the Claude.ai web interface, API, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork. Anthropic confirmed the issue before 1:30 PM ET and posted on its status page that it was investigating high error rates across several models.
The company later issued an update stating it had implemented a fix and was continuously monitoring the results, but some models still exhibited abnormal behavior. According to data from the tracking platform Downdetector, outage reports in the U.S. gradually declined after the fix was applied, though they remained elevated. Notably, this incident occurred during the same week that Anthropic had previously suspended Claude Mythos 5 and Claude Fable 5, and June saw multiple instances of instability, testing user confidence in the leading AI provider.
