On Tuesday afternoon Eastern Time, Anthropic’s AI assistant Claude experienced a brief outage, with many users reporting errors across multiple platforms. According to Anthropic’s official status page, the incident impacted several products including Claude.ai, Claude Console, API, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork. The company first acknowledged the issue around 1:30 PM ET, then stated it had implemented a fix and was monitoring results, though some models still showed abnormal behavior. During the outage, user reports on Downdetector peaked before gradually declining, but thousands of users remained unable to access the service.
The disruption affected not only casual chat users but also development teams relying on the API and Claude Code. In its status updates, Anthropic emphasized its team was closely monitoring elevated error rates. Notably, this is the second stability test for Anthropic this month — earlier in the month the company temporarily suspended access to the Claude Mythos 5 and Claude Fable 5 models, which also caused widespread impact. Such repeated operational volatility has raised more attention to high availability among AI service providers.
