On the morning of June 22, 2026 (Eastern Time), social media platform X (formerly Twitter) experienced a widespread service disruption. Over 15,000 users reported connection issues via Downdetector, affecting both the web version and mobile app. The outage peaked around 9:30 AM ET, with the heaviest impact on East Coast cities including New York, Boston, and Washington DC; users in Chicago, Dallas, and Atlanta also reported similar problems. X had a brief outage on Sunday, June 21, when about 2,600 users reported connection errors.
The outage prevented users from refreshing feeds, posting tweets, or using direct messages. Some users reported that the app crashed or closed unexpectedly. As of 10:18 AM ET, X had gradually restored service, though some users still reported slow loading. X’s official team has not yet issued a statement regarding this incident. This marks the second consecutive day of availability fluctuations after the small-scale disruption the day before.
