Anthropic recently launched Claude Tag as a research preview, embedding the Claude model into Slack as an "always-on" AI teammate. Users can gain insights, assign tasks, or collaborate simply by @Claude in chat without leaving the communication tool. Claude Tag is currently available to Claude Enterprise and Claude Team customers. Users can message @Claude privately or @mention it in channels for instant assistance, and even route coding tasks from a channel mention to a full programming session on the web via Claude Code, with results returning to the chat thread in real time.
Unlike one-off conversations, Claude Tag gives every member of the same Slack channel a shared Claude identity. This means "anyone can see what Claude is working on and pick up the conversation where a colleague left off." System administrators can precisely control which tools, information, and channels Claude can access. For example, a Claude identity set up for legal work cannot leak memory into an engineering channel, striking a balance between team collaboration and data isolation. With each interaction in Slack, Claude gradually learns the company's context, becoming a smart assistant that truly integrates into the team's workflow.
