Anthropic has announced the research preview of Claude Tag, a new feature that embeds an AI assistant directly into Slack workflows. Users can simply @mention Claude in a chat to call on this "always-on" AI teammate, gaining real-time insights, assigning tasks, or picking up conversations where they left off. The feature is available for Claude Enterprise and Claude Team customers and is currently in research preview.
Unlike previous integrations that only supported private messages or one-off requests, Claude Tag gives everyone in the same Slack channel access to a shared Claude identity. This means "anyone can see what Claude is working on and continue the conversation from where a colleague left off." System admins can fine-tune which tools, information, and channels Claude can access—for example, a Claude identity configured for the legal team won't be able to read engineering channel memories, ensuring data isolation and security. Additionally, the Claude Code feature can route coding tasks from a channel to a full coding session on the web, then return the results back to the original discussion thread.
