Tencent has recently launched a new tool that integrates the OpenClaw AI agent into the WeChat messaging platform. Users can send instructions to the agent via chat inside WeChat and receive results; the tool appears as a contact, making it easy to invoke directly within a familiar chat interface. This integration comes as OpenClaw, an open-source AI agent, has been gaining popularity recently, with capabilities covering common tasks such as file transfers and sending emails on a user’s behalf.
This move also signals Tencent’s accelerating push into agentic AI. Reports note that Tencent released its own agent suite this month, including QClaw for individuals, Lighthouse for developers, and WorkBuddy for enterprises. At the industry level, AI agents are becoming a new focal point for competition among China’s tech companies, as businesses look to improve office automation and execution efficiency through multi-agent collaboration.
