It’s recommended to set up your username, email, and two-factor authentication in Discord in advance to avoid getting stuck on authorization pop-ups later. For browsers, Chrome/Edge is more worry-free; try not to install too many extensions that block pop-ups.
Midjourney web registration and first-login steps
Open the Midjourney official website (midjourney.com) and click “Sign in/登录.” You’ll be redirected to the Discord authorization page. Select the Discord account you want to use and click “Authorize/授权.” Midjourney will use this Discord identity to create your Midjourney account profile. After entering for the first time, it’s recommended that you go to your profile page to confirm that the account info and email match, so you don’t mistakenly think later that your “account is gone.”
If you plan to generate images in Discord, you can first find the official Midjourney server in Discord (a common approach is to join via the website entry or an invite link). After entering, use “/imagine” to input your prompt to generate images; on the web, you can also generate directly through the page’s creation entry. Whether on the web or in Discord, Midjourney essentially recognizes the same Discord identity.
The correct way to link Discord, revoke authorization, and re-link
Midjourney’s “linking” is simply a Discord authorization. If you choose the wrong Discord account during authorization, the most common symptoms are: after logging in you see no history, the permissions are wrong, or you can’t find the corresponding plan. To unlink, go to Discord “User Settings → Authorized Apps,” find Midjourney, and revoke authorization. Then return to the Midjourney website to log in again and re-authorize. This is more effective than repeatedly refreshing the page, and it makes it easier to switch Midjourney back to the correct account.
In addition, if authorization fails on a corporate or public network, try switching to a mobile hotspot; some networks block the Discord authorization redirect. After successful authorization, the Midjourney site usually returns to the homepage automatically. If it stays on a blank page, it’s likely your browser blocked the redirect—switch browsers or disable blocking extensions.
Midjourney multi-account switching: the three most reliable methods
If you truly need to switch Midjourney accounts, essentially you are switching Discord accounts. The most reliable method is to use the browser’s “Profiles/Multi-user” feature: one profile logs into one Discord, so Midjourney accounts won’t get mixed up. The second method is to use separate incognito windows to log into different Discord accounts, then open Midjourney in each. The third is to completely log out of Account A in the Discord client, log into Account B, then visit Midjourney and re-authorize.
It’s not recommended to repeatedly “log out/log in” within the same browser tab, because both Discord and Midjourney cache sessions, and you may think you switched accounts while Midjourney is still recognizing the old session. To confirm whether the switch succeeded, check whether the Discord avatar and username shown on the Midjourney page match. If they don’t, follow the method above: revoke Midjourney authorization in Discord and log in again.
